Leeds City Council has been awarded funding from the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership to deliver a work experience programme which aims to support young people to gain sustainable employment.

The Head Start programme offers a supported work experience placement for young people who are furthest away from the labour market.

Referrals are made through Jobcentre Plus on a voluntary basis for young people aged 18-24.

Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), along with mentoring and key worker support will be provided to each young person throughout placements which will address any barriers and help reconnect them to the labour market.

Every young person on the programme will be entitled to a travel card of up to £80.

How you can help:

All we ask is that you offer a four week work placement in an entry level job and provide supervision to the young person, with support from a dedicated key worker.

How we can help you

  • We provide a thorough and competitive recruitment process, including assessment and interview to make sure we match the applicants skills to your needs
  • We arrange two weeks training and pre placement support to each young person. This includes communication skills, team building, job application workshops and interview support
  • We support your business, and the young person, throughout the process from induction to placement reviews

How can you help?

All we ask is that you offer up to four weeks work experience.
