The Summer of Cycling 2011 was such a great success that we have decided to run the program again in 2012.

This year we are hoping that it is going to be bigger and better than ever before.
We are passionate about cycling and we love to see people getting out on their bikes, especially when the sun is shining and people can really enjoy it!

This year, as with last year we will be offering a range of events, services and opportunities to encourage people who already cycle to continue to do so, people who cycle occasionally cycle to cycle more often and those who have never cycled to give it a go!

Do you already cycle to work at Thorpe Park? Fancy being part of a Bicycle User Group ? To get in touch Click Here

'Give it a Go' Cycling Program

Just like last year we are offering a unique opportunity for you to give cycling a go this summer. We have teamed up with Land Rover UK and have a range of bikes available for you to borrow, free of charge to people who work at Thorpe Park, Leeds.

Every month we will be selecting a group of applicants to take part in the program, each successful applicant will have use of a Land Rover bike for one month.

In order to apply, click here (it only takes 2 minutes).

It maybe that we cannot find you a bike straight away, but we hope that we can get as many people involved as possible before the summer is over.

You don’t need to worry about helmets, bike locks or tools, we can provide those for you!

Dr Bike Sessions

Do you have a bike which could do with a bit of a tune? To assist those currently cycling to work we will be running a series of Dr. Bike sessions throughout the summer.

Our Dr. Bike will be on hand to give your bike the once over, carrying out basic maintenance and repairs, and advising where extra work is required.

The Dr. Bike service, including basic tasks such as brake adjustments, servicing of gears and a safety check will all be provided free of charge. Where extra work is required, we can advise the best course of action.

The first Dr. Bike session will be held on Thursday the 31st of May between the hours of 12pm and 3pm. For the location map click here.

SOS Cycle Supply Kit

We all know that bikes need maintaining, parts become loose and chains dry up. A faulty bike can not only be frustrating but also dangerous to anyone who rides it.

If your bike needs some attention and you have left your tools at home, there is no need to worry as the kind people at icon Business Centre (4100 Park Approach) have offered to provide an SOS cycle supply kit. The kit will be available to all staff working at Thorpe Park and will be kept behind the reception at the icon Business Centre.

The supply kit will include the following:

Innertubes
Tyres
Gear and brake cables
Chain Lube
Batteries
Puncture repair patches
A Pump
A range of tools

It's simple, if you need to use the tools, lube or pump then feel free. If you need to use one of the inner tubes, tyres, cables, batteries or puncture repair patches feel free but we do ask that you replace them like for like when you get the chance.

If any of the tools within the kit have been damaged, something has run out or items have been taken but not replaced then we ask you contact us so we can replace them as soon as possible.

Monthly Bike Rides

Last year we organised a few bike rides on an evening from Thorpe Park. Would you be interested in joining us? If so, get in touch and we can develop some plans to suit the people who are interested.
