For those that use Garforth train station, you will have noticed ongoing improvement works. The station is undergoing Access for All improvements which will introduce unobstructed, accessible routes to the station and platforms. These changes will comply with the Equality Act 2010.
A new Beacon footbridge and lifts are due to open in spring 2024. Following the removal of the existing footbridge, a temporary structure is now open for use. There is also an ongoing footpath diversion whilst works are being undertaken.
Estimated timeline of works:
Site setup – August 2023
Enabling works – September 2023
Foundation works – December 2023
Steelwork installation – January 2024
Fit out (installing lifts, glazing and brickwork) – March 2024
Footbridge and lifts open – April 2024
Access for All Scheme complete – June 2024
The station will remain open during the works which will mainly be undertaken 7am – 5pm on weekdays. Please also note, there is no cycle storage available at the station due to the works.
