It is good to be aware that before any repair or service, many bike shops will check your bike for free. Halfords are one retailer who offers this service across their stores.
The expertly trained bike mechanics will provide you with a free 32 point bike health check to spot any problems before they develop into bigger ones.
You can have any bike, of any size and any discipline checked for free.
What’s included in the check?
The bike mechanic will carry out what is called an ‘M-check’, checking the bike thoroughly from top to bottom and assessing all 32 elements for signs of wear, damage or adjustment requirements. Some of the key areas of the check include:
- Frame, saddle & handlebar
- Wheels; including tyres, rims, spokes and hubs
- Brake system; including levers, calipers, pads and cables/hoses
- Drivetrain; including gears, levers, chain, bottom bracket, cranks and cables
The check will either confirm that your bike is in good condition and you can continue riding, or it will determine if any maintenance or service is required before you can get back to safe and efficient cycling.
If there is a problem, your bike can be booked in with one of the fully qualified bike mechanics at Halfords at the first opportunity and you can be back on your bike in no time!
